The Director of Quality provides strategic oversight to satisfy customer quality requirements in the manufacturing of tapered roller bearings and outsourced components. This position exists to provide quality policies, standards, procedures, training, and oversight of the entire Quality system in Petersburg and at our Joint Ventures (JV). To accomplish the business objectives, the Director of Quality will work closely with employees, customers and leaders, reporting to the COO. As such, it is imperative that this leader is strong in building formal and informal networks inside and outside of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To accomplish this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The following are the end results and deliverables for which this position is held accountable.
Develops and executes strategic plans for the department.
Develops and implements quality standards, policies, programs and activities. Responsible for all issues and activities relating to quality for manufactured and sourced components and bearings to include continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensures approval of all AAR, ISO, International and Customer certifications
Determines the quality requirements for manufacturing operations to include creation and adherence to strict quality standards and documentation.
Leads team to make quick decisions related to non-conforming products.
Responsible for all quality systems to include management review.
Responsible for the support of Operations through Product Auditing, Internal Auditing, Receiving Inspection, Metallurgy Lab and Metrology Lab.
Resolves all customer, supplier, internal and external quality concerns.
Attract, develop and retrains talent to achieve world class performance. Develops goals and performance measures for the department.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgy or related discipline; MBA or Masters a plus.
3 years in progressive leadership roles with a proven ability to execute in a fact-based environment through others.
Quality experience in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
Strong technical communications both written and verbal. Prior experience in communicating and collaborating effectively with technical teams, supporting organizations and customers.
Exceptional analytical skills; capable of defining, analyzing, and resolving complicated problems in a fast-paced ever-changing multi-cultural environment.
Build confidence and credibility by being reliable, honest and authentic while exemplifying the highest ethical standards in a transparent manner.
